We install seasonal lights, so we have a side. We'll still give you the honest picture. Both are good choices for different people.
Permanent lights
Permanent systems are LED strips in a track mounted under your roof edge. They stay up all year. You control colors from a phone app.
- Good: no yearly install, works for every holiday, can change colors.
- Trade-offs: a much bigger upfront cost, the track is visible in daylight on some homes, and repairs depend on the installer's warranty. Most install on fixed points that need hardwired power or a dedicated outlet.
Seasonal full-service lights (what we do)
We hang classic C9 bulbs each fall, fix them if they go out, take them down after New Year's and store them.
- Good: lower cost per year, the warm classic glow, nothing left on your house the rest of the year, no big upfront purchase.
- Trade-offs: you pay each season, and the look is for Christmas, not every holiday.
Which one fits you?
- Pick permanent if you plan to stay in your home many years and want lights for lots of holidays.
- Pick seasonal if you want the classic Christmas look, a clean roof the rest of the year, and no big upfront cost.
